Before you know what kindness really is
you must lose things,
feel the future dissolve in a moment
like salt in a weakened broth…….
This morning's reading is a poem "Kindness" by Naomi Shihab Nye. It speaks to me directly with regard to Chris's passing. Here is more
….Before you know kindness as the deepest thing inside,
you must know sorrow as the other deepest thing……
Then it is only kindness that makes any sense anymore,
only kindness that ties your shoes………
Only now I realize that I am feeling the loss of Chris as if he were one of my two sons.
I honor Chris for the sorrow and the resulting kindness I am feeling.
