Another Day of Just Being

It's 55 in Santa Fe at 7:00 this morning! Whee! I can hardly wait for the cool nights!
I'm a bit late this morning. I got involved with cooking steel-cut oats - it takes a little while longer than ordinary rolled oats, but it's worth it! Of course, the walnuts and raisins help. The sun has already crept onto the edge of the screen porch where I normally write. So, I moved over to my rocking chair. There is a bit of a breeze this morning, so it's not stifling yet. As soon as the grass dries off, I'm going over to work on the labyrinth a bit and also chop down the dead willow trees. Ray and I are still hoping they might sprout back next spring. Hummingbirds are truly feasting on my front stoop all day long now - but particularly in the mornings and other times when I have let the feeders go dry and refilled them. I fill two feeders at least once every day, sometimes more often. At times there are 8 birds flying around. Believe me, these are the nicest kinds of pets! Better than the herons and the egrets - at least these visit my front porch! The bullfrog who lives just to my right, has greeted me, but no one else has shown up.

  1. Jaquie,
I, too, love steel cut oatmeal. You may want to Google Alton Brown's recipe. He makes it in the crock pot adding dried cherries. I make up a weeks worth at a time and substitute fat free 1/2&1/2 for the regular 1/2&1/2. It's terrific!

Enjoy your travels. I'm looking forward to following your posts. -Lisa
